Having received an acknowledgement from Apple engineering that the Drag & Drop feature of JFileUpload being broken in MacOS X 10.7 (Lion) was " a known problem," I had expected today's (11/9/11) Java update to have fixed it. My initial testing indicates that this has NOT been fixed.
What happens is that when you drag a file over the applet and drop it, the browser attempts to handle it. In the case of a video file, it plays the video in the browser instead of uploading it. The alternative use of the File menu does work as it always has.
This worked fine in Snow Leopard.
JFileUpload D&D Still Broken in MacOS X 10.7.xRe: JFileUpload D&D Still Broken in MacOS X 10.7.xApple said it was fixed? Do you have a link where we could read it?
Re: JFileUpload D&D Still Broken in MacOS X 10.7.xThe only workaround that I have found with DnD not working on browsers (Safari, Firefox) on Mac is to detach the applet from the browser window. To detach an applet use cmd + shift and hover your mouse over the menu item on the applet, it will let you drag the applet out of the brower window.
DnD appears to work on the detached applet dialog. Closing the applet dialog reattaches itself to the browser window. Re: JFileUpload D&D Still Broken in MacOS X 10.7.xTry another workaround detailed at:
