Hi guys

This applet looks GREAT and i am testing it before BUT i have to say that you should upate some of your files for the beginners
(and i'm i'm web dev, in that area i'm no a newbie, even if i'm not familiar with js)

I tested the http method
i'm on apache

1.

current url=http://localhost:8080/upload/process.jsp
(Modify url parameters in this HTML source code to fit your server-side)

There is no such process.jsp anywhere

2. By looking in faq and forum i found

url = "http://yourserver.com/upload.jsp"
<PARAM name="url" value="http://yourserver.com/upload.jsp">

but hey!, no upload.jsp anywhre either !

3. So i set up the link to url=http://myserver/jfileupload.jar

So ok, i don't have errors anymore and the applet says "Upload completed"
Except that is not true ! the files are nowhere on the server !!!

4. by the way : where the bleep do I setup an upload directory where i want the files being uploaded ???


Am I picky here ?
This applet look great, an if it's ok I plan to order almost all the plugins in the premium version, so i don't want to spent the hours as i just did ! just to find out how it's working !

process.jsp is a server-side that will handle HTTP upload request on server-side. We provive such scripts at: http://www.jfileupload.com/products/tools/index.html
You have to choose the correct one that matches to your server-side technology.
It could be process.jsp, process.php, process.aspx ...

You will setup the folder where uploaded files will be stored (on server) in this script.

Does it make sense ?

But too bad that was not in the install file (i think)


Wich means that either i have to install tomcat on my apache server or use php, right ?

I saw that you recommend the jsp script
Why ?
is it because as it's java, jsp is more compatible with the applet ?

When you say that the php script "supports basic requests" instead of the jsp one that "supports all features of JFileUpload", is it beacause all the features haven't be implemented in the php script (but can be) or is it because it is impossible to implement ALL features with php ?

No, it's not related to Java on both client and server-side. TOMCAT and JSP provide more flexibility than PHP to handle resume. So resume works faster with JSP. 90% of features implemented in JSP script are also available in the PHP script.

I'l use php for now, the time i figure out how to implement tomcat then use the jsp
